MLB 40 For 40

We are 40 games into the MLB Season so lets take a peek at whats going on during the season so far.

4 Best teams through 40 games.

New York Yankees 28-18

Nothing is surprising about the Yankees being in first place. But this version of the Bronx Bombers were not expected to take off until a couple a years from now. GM Brian Cashman has been on a roll not just a guy with a big payroll. Trades for Didi Gregorius and Starling Castro have been solid with the bat and up the middle. Aaron Jugde held down the Homer fort while Gary Sanchez was on the mend. The Yankees and Brewers lead the League in Home Runs, which has helped the Yankees stay afloat despite a staff with out a true ace. New York has Home Run Power, okay starting pitching, a good bullpen and a great farm system. Will they mortgage some of that farm system for a top line starter if they are still in it down the stretch.

Colorado Rockies 32-18

We have been here before, The Colorado Rockies hit a bunch of homers get off to a fast start and lead the NL West. Which means they usually they fall from grace by the All Star break. One difference this year could be their manager. Bud Black is respected and very good at handling a staff and running team. Will Black’s experience be enough to navigate the Rockies

we will have to see. The Rockies also had a league low ERA of 3.45 in the month of May. Look for Charlie Blackmon Rockies CF to be early candidate for NL MVP.

Minnesota Twins 25-19

Yes its been a while but the Twins are back and trying to become relevant again. Once led by Joe Mauer these newest version of the twinkies are led by Kepler, Dozer and Miguel Sanó. Sano is that guy in the line up that twins fans don’t leave their seat for. This guy can just flat out hit sometimes he looks like Miguel Cabera at the plate. He helps Mauer become a secondary offensive player. Mauer no longer has to feel the weight of the world on his shoulders to carry the Twins offense. The Twins could just be place holding for the American League Champion Cleveland Indians. Or will they be the AL Central Champs we will have to see.

Houston Astros 33-16

So I gotta a honest when you team is having a bad year like my San Francisco Giants who are 10 games under .500. The Houston Astros can be your guilty pleasure team. The Astro’s are filled with veteran guys and young superstars who are five tool players. Houston has been talented for some time but in 2017 they look like they have put it all together. Like the Cubs before them they may need to lose in the playoffs before they make a run at the world series. Good news for the Astros many of the preseason favorites are struggling while Houston may be able to run and hide in the AL West.
