The Dodgers just went all in for the World Series. Ace Lefty Clayton Kershaw is nursing a back injury for the second straight season. The Dodgers called the Texas Rangers and were able to acquire starting pitcher Yu Darvish. Darvish is one of the best pitchers in the game and will be able to break up the string of left handed starters in LA. Making 2017 a World Series Win or bust for the Dodgers.
Will the Dodgers finally win the World Series??
You may not be able to remember one of the most dramatic home runs in MLB history. The Oakland A’s were playing the Los Angles Dodgers in the 1988 world series. The score was 4-3 A's and the best closer in the sport was on the mound with one on and two out. When an injured Kirk Gibson hobbled to the plate much like Robert Redford did in the film the Natural. Gibson hits the bomb into the right field bleachers and the rest is history as the Dodgers went on to beat the A’s and win the 88 title. So it’s 2017 and they haven’t won a championship since 1988. So after a so so start in 2017 the Dodgers have gone 30-4 in their last 34 games. This has the Dodgers dreaming about another title run.
If L.A. can stay healthy their really is no excuse for them not to be playing in the fall classic. This is third year in a row that they have broken in a young superstar lefty hitter. First it was Joc Peterson the Centerfield with power a
nd the speed to flat out go get any drive to the outfield. Batting next if you will is Short Stop Cory Seager a fantastic player who hit 26 homers in his first full major league season.
In 2017 Cody Belliger just hit for the cycle this week and has 26 homers and we haven’t even got to August yet. Not to mention the best pitcher in baseball steps on the mound ever 5th day in Clayton Kershaw. But perhaps the most impressive Dodger pitcher isn’t Kershaw it’s Kenley Jansen the Dodgers closer. Jensen has 23 saves and a 0.89 ERA. This team is really good but in L.A. the but Dodgers fans want to know will they be great when it really matters.
