September 9, 2017

As we take a tour around the league we start in the NFC East

Previewing the NFC East

2017 Prediction 1st Place Tie 10-6

Dallas Cowboys

Who’s Under Center Dak Prescott

Biggest Offseason Acquisitions- CB Nolan Carroll(Philadelphia), DE Taco Charlton(Michigan)

Big Play Provider

On Offense- Unfortunately for the Cowboys the most dangerous big play threat that they have is also potentially the biggest questions mark entering the 2017 season.  Ezekiel Elliot is the best player on the Dallas Cowboys however due to off the field issues may miss some games in the first month of the season.  The strength of this team is still the offensive line which will look to create more opportunities for Zeke and Dak Prescott to make plays on the ground and through the air.  Dez Bryant will look to stay healthy and be more of a consistent target as the Cowboys look to repeat as NFC Champs.

On Defense- The defense is something the Cowboys just have not been able to get right for some time now and this year may be no different. The biggest additions are CB Nolan Carroll and he has found himself in off the field trouble and CB Chidobe Awuzie who will be helping to rebuild a secondary that mostly vacated in free agency this off season.  First round pick DE Taco Charlton will hope to bring some energy and much needed pass rush to a defensive line that has not been very impressive the last couple of years.

Team Overview

A lot can change in one year.  Last year all hopes were in Tony Romo and Dak Prescott was fighting for a backup quarterback role with the Cowboys.  This year Romo will be calling Cowboy games on television and Dak is the man in Dallas. This team has the best offensive line in the NFL and will look to allow Prescott to open up the offense a bit to create more opportunities for Dez Bryant and give more running room to Ezekiel Elliot as teams key on him more and more coming into the 2017 season.  The offense will need to put up quite a few points especially early in the season as we find out if the defense shows any improvement.

The Bottom Line

The Cowboys are confident and ready to try to duplicate the success they had a year ago. Expect Dak Prescott to improve and throw the ball more down field and there is no reason why Zeke Elliot can’t have another dominant season when he gets on the field. The defense, a difficult out of conference schedule(@Denver, @Oakland, @Atlanta and @Arizona), and staying out of trouble with the law seem to be the biggest obstacles for the Cowboys heading into the 2017 season.
