Previewing the NFC East

2017 Prediction 1st Place Tie 10-6

New York Giants

Who’s Under Center Eli Manning

Biggest Offseason Acquisitions- WR Brandon Marshall(Jets), TE Evan Engram(Old Miss)

Big Play Provider

On Offense- The Giants spent the off season adding more weapons to the passing game with the hopes of maximizing on what will most likely be the last few seasons of Eli Manning's career. The team added free agent WR

Brandon Marshall and TE Evan Engram in the draft. Both players will add big targets for Manning who already has been spoiled throwing to Odell Beckham and Sterling Shepherd in 2016. This team needs to get some consistent play from the offensive line in order to add some balance to the offense which has proven to be their biggest weakness the last couple of years.

On Defense- Defense was a huge strength of this team last year and with the resigning of Jason Pierre Paul and relatively returning group in the secondary the hope is that the success will continue. Sometimes a good running game on offense leads to a more successful defense as the Giants look to be able to keep the defense off the field a little bit more this season. A strong pass rush and solid secondary play will be the key to the Giants chances of winning the NFC East in 2017.

Team Overview

This team is all in and its hopes rest on the arm of Eli Manning and the offensive line. The defense is a solid group and at times can be dominant however with no running game to speak of in recent years the offense becomes one dimensional and the defense gets tired of carrying the entire team. The pressure will be on Eli Manning to cut down on mistakes and protect the football better than he has most of his previous career.

The Bottom Line

Sometimes talent just wins out in the end and the 2017 Giants have a great deal of talent on paper. Mark my words, “the 2017 New York Giants will go as far as Eli Manning can take them”. I have heard all off season that there are no more excuses to be made for Eli Manning and when you add the pieces the Giants did you can understand the sentiment. It’s time for Manning to solidify his career legacy and make another deep run in the post season.
